What is cycle insurance?
Cycle insurance covers the costs of repairing or replacing your bike due to accidental damage, malicious damage and theft.
How can I pay?
This is an annual insurance policy that can be paid for either in 12 monthly instalments or in one lump sum payment.
When does cover begin?
Cover will begin on the start date of your policy as shown on your schedule of insurance. You can choose a start date up to 21 days in advance of today's date.
I bought my cycle second hand, can I insure it?
Yes, you can buy a policy for a second hand bike so long as it was purchased from a cycle retailer and you have receipt which shows much you paid for the bike.
I have a custom cycle made up of different parts, can I insure it?
Yes, please provide the value based on the overall cost of parts using original receipts.
I use my cycle for work, is that okay?
Cover is provided for commuting purposes. We are unable to provide cover for business/trade purposes such as a courier.
What’s the maximum value of cycle you will accept?
We can insure cycles up to the value of £6,000.
I bought my cycle in a sale, what value should I insure it for?
Please enter a value that is sufficient to cover the replacement cost of the cycle once the sale has finished.
Can I use my cycle abroad?
Yes, our policies cover Worldwide use as standard.
Do I need to use an approved lock to secure my cycle?
Yes, you will need to secure your cycle using a lock from the appropriate Sold Secure category (as specified on your policy schedule):
- up to £500 requires a Bronze rated ‘Sold Secure’ lock
- between £501 and £1,500 requires a Silver rated ‘Sold Secure’ lock
- equal to or over £1,501 requires a Gold rated ‘Sold Secure’ lock

Do I have to provide you with my cycle frame number?
Yes, we require your cycle's frame number at time of purchase which can be found stamped into the metal under the bottom bracket or if a carbon frame. The number will either be etched into the surface or displayed on a sticker. Occasionally, the frame number will be on the inside of the chain stay or on the down tune or top tube. Can I insure my accessories with you too?
Yes, you can add accessories cover to your policy for an additional premium. Accessories are defined as “Equipment added or fixed to the cycle in addition to the manufacturers original specification, including helmets (excluding airbag helmets), shoes, jerseys or vests, base layers, gilets, glasses & goggles, jackets, shorts, trousers, backpacks, helmet mounted cycling cameras , cycling computers, cycling GPS unit, lights, spare wheels, cycle luggage, cycling tools, cycling armour and guards, locks.”
Does the policy cover spare wheels?
Spare wheels are considered an accessory and are included in your cover if you have purchased the bike accessories option.
Amending your policy
How do I cancel my policy?
If you decide that this policy no longer meets your requirements, you can cancel within 14 days of purchase or within 14 days of the day on which you receive your policy documentation, whichever is later. On the condition no claims have been made or are pending, we will then refund your premium in full.
If you wish to cancel after 14 days and your policy is yet to start, we will again issue a full refund.
If you wish to cancel after 14 days and your policy has started , we will issue you a pro rata refund for the remaining period provided you haven’t/don’t intend to make a claim.
If you pay your premium monthly, your policy will be cancelled with immediate effect, however no refund will be given.
I have changed my cycle or moved home. Do I need to inform you?
If your personal details or bike details have changed, please contact us via the website contact form or by email to: customerservice@Spinsure.com
Is there an excess to pay?
Yes, an excess is your contribution in the event of a successful claim. The excess is payable for each and every claim that is made and is noted in your schedule of insurance. You'll be given the option to choose what you'd like your excess to be when purchasing.
Will my cycle be covered for theft if it is left at a train or bus station?
Yes, providing your cycle has been secured to an immovable object using an approved lock and left for no more than 24 hours.
Do I need to supply a receipt or proof of purchase?
Yes, you need to supply the original purchase receipt/gift receipt/documentary evidence (if the cycle was received as an insurance claim replacement) showing the date, price paid and details of the cycle when making a claim.
How can I make a complaint?

This insurance is administered by Halo Insurance Services Ltd who are Authorised and Regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Register number 504629.
